I know you're trying to make fun of the BCS (very original, I might add) but what you're doing is validating that most of the time (note emphasis on MOST) the BCS does crown the best team in college football. Do you really believe the 83-win St. Louis Cardinals were the best team in baseball this past season? Why? Because they got hot at the right time? Or, that the Steelers were really the best team despite not winning their division and posting a subpar record? I love it when the BCS sucks crowd gets mad about a team that didn't win its division playing for the national championship when most pro champs are wild cards.

At 11-5 the Steelers tied for the 5th best record in the entire NFL last year. Only Indy (14-2), Denver (13-3), Seattle (13-3), and Jax (12-4) had more than 11 wins last year. The Steelers lost the division on a tie breaker and then beat the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd seeded teams on the road in order, then beat the number one seed from the other conference in the Super Bowl. Yep, certainly sounds like they didn't prove that they were the most deserving team.
Sorry that should be the "3rd, 1st, and 2nd seed in order."
Good point about the Steelers (my bad), but it still remains they didn't win their divison, tie breaker or not. If that were college football I'd get to hear ESPN-idiots, who watch maybe three games a year, talk about how stupid, silly, and retarded college football is because a team that didn't win its division is playing for the championship. It's always playoffs, playoffs, playoffs, like that's the magic, fool proof formula. The Steelers were pretty good, but they still had the fifth best regular season record, which in a league where the difference in strength of schedule isn't that great, is a pretty good sign that maybe, just maybe they're not the best team. If the NFL played a 100 game schedule and the Steelers came out with the fifth best record, but then won four games in the playoffs, would you still think they were the champs? Why even play the regular season, let's just open it up with a playoff from day one. I'm not saying the BCS has it right, not by a long shot, but people that just rip the system blindly are pretty ignorant. Warts and all the winner of the BCS Championship is much more indicative of who the best team in college football was that year than what March Madness produces with a playoff.
OK, now take those exact same situations and add one game, end-of-season, between the BCS #1 and #2. Or the AP #1 and #2. Just not the coaches poll. They suck.
Problem solved.
